MEET THE GOVERNOR-ELECT
Eric Barlow
On November 3, 2026, Eric Barlow was elected to serve as Wyoming’s next governor.
A fourth-generation Wyoming rancher, U.S. Marine Corps veteran, large-animal veterinarian, and small business owner, Eric brings a lifetime of practical experience and public service to the governor’s office.
Eric was born in Gillette and raised on his family’s ranch in Campbell County. Growing up, he learned to work hard, help his neighbors, and follow through on his commitments. Those lessons have guided his work throughout his life.
After graduating from Campbell County High School in 1984, Eric enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. He married his high school sweetheart, Kelly, in 1991 and earned his veterinary degree from Colorado State University in 1998. Their children, Kate and Graham, were born during those years.
The family returned to Wyoming, where Eric practiced veterinary medicine in Newcastle before moving back to Gillette to work as a large-animal veterinarian and help operate the family ranch. Today, Eric and Kelly raise cattle, sheep, and yak.
Eric served on the Wyoming Livestock Board from 2006 to 2012 before being elected to the Wyoming House of Representatives. During five terms representing portions of Campbell and Converse counties, he served as Majority Leader and Speaker of the House. He subsequently joined the Wyoming Senate, representing District 23.
Throughout his legislative service, Eric remained engaged with his constituents, attending local government meetings, community events, and public hearings. His work has focused on issues affecting Wyoming families and employers, including highway safety, healthcare access, water infrastructure, and the future of the state’s energy industries.
As governor, Eric’s priorities include responsible government spending, a strong economy, and communities equipped to address their local needs. He wants Wyoming’s young people to have meaningful opportunities to build careers, raise families, and make their futures here.
Eric and Kelly’s children, Kate and Graham, both live and work in Wyoming. His approach to public service remains straightforward: show up, listen, and do the work.
